How does the chargers communicate with the battery?
The CH4000 uses the standard SBS / SMBus data interface to read the internal fuel gauge, so voltage and current are regulated in real time and LED indicators show charging status.

Yes. As an external desktop base the CH4000 lets you keep several packs charged so your medical or industrial equipment stays online for continuous operation.
